The Golf Club at Long Shadow

The Golf Club at Long Shadow is situated only minutes from Lake Oconee, Georgia. The area is famous for its recreational features and picturesque sceneries. Avid golfers have been drooling over it even before its inauguration.

The Golf course is designed by Mike Young and Paul Donnelly and gives an aura of all the attributes of a classical architecture. The obvious reason for its development was to provide recreation for the nearby residents. Located to the east of the city, the Long Shadow expresses the great vision of acclaimed golf architect Mike Young. Mr. Young has designed more than twenty courses in the Southeast but the Long Shadow is his best till date. The course offers such diversity that can make even seasoned golfers cringe. The massive farmlands, steep bunkers and the carefully crafted greens all add to the thrilling vistas of the beautiful course.

Paul Donnelly - the owner of the Madison lakes - wanted to give the utmost priority to the golf club in the real estate development plan for the area. Mr. Donnelly worked in close connivance with Mike young in order to build a course that takes complete advantage of the land's natural assets and its steep topography.

The holes are designed in such a way as to compliment the tree-lined meadows and the meandering ridges giving the aura of the great scotch and Irish courses. The fairways and greens are framed in the rolling landscape. The bunkers - big and bold - give an additional formidable character to the course.

The course is a dream-come-true for an avid golfer.  The holes are all challenging, yet playable. The most exciting is the 9th that has a high meadow and quite threatening bunkers to contend with. The long shadow presents golf at its best. The course is easy to walk. There are five tees par 72 - and can be played from 5235 to 7346 yards. For the more adventurous, theater is a set of tees 7600 yards.

Hole number 1 is par 4 and should be played to the left. The green is quite large.
Hole number 2 is par 4 and should be approached from the left of the hole.
Hole number 3 is par 5 and the right approach is form the centre to the right.
Hole number 4 is par 3. Go for the front of the green. The elevation is deceptive.
Hole number 5 is par 5. The green is very small. Take the left side.
Hole number 6 - take a small shot. The steepness of the green takes the ball to the right.
Hole number 9 is par 4 - do not hit very far. Align towards the right.
Hole number 17 is par 3. Take a long shot. You might take the hole in three shots

The championship is 7600 yards, Black is 7346 yards, Blue is 6785 yards, White is 5861 for men as well as women and green is 5288 yards.

The course also provides a massive practice green with multiple targets. You can also have private lessons at the double ended range. There is a clinic, a putting green, a chipping green and quite a few practice bunkers.

Other facilities include swimming, tennis, walking, jogging and bicycle trails. The fees charge by the golf club is quite reasonable and fall between 49 dollars to 59 dollars.
